Trauma Therapy
Trauma can leave you feeling on edge, disconnected, and helpless. It can show up as a nervous system stuck in survival mode, never quite safe, long after the danger has passed.
I work with clients online, worldwide. Together, we will work at a pace that feels manageable, developing ways to help you regain your sense of safety, agency, and resilience.
In our work together, you will:
- Regain your sense of safety and awareness of your needs and responses.
- Develop tools to self-regulate when feeling vulnerable or overwhelmed.
- Reconnect with yourself and others in authentic, healthy ways.
- Rebuild your self-esteem and focus on moving forward
How trauma therapy works
Trauma is stored in the body, not just the mind, which is why flashbacks, hypervigilance, and a racing heart can return without warning. I draw on evidence-based approaches designed to help your nervous system process what it couldn’t process in the moment:
- Internal Family Systems (IFS): To gently understand and heal the protective “parts” of you that formed around the trauma.
- Somatic Experiencing & EMDR: To help your body regulate the fight, flight, or freeze response and release trauma held in the nervous system.
- Focusing-Oriented Therapy: To rebuild trust in your body’s signals after trauma has made them feel unsafe or unreliable.
- Expressive Arts & Voicework: To access and release what happened when the memory is too fragmented, or too overwhelming for words alone.
Common questions about trauma therapy
What is trauma therapy, and how does it work online?
Online trauma therapy uses the same evidence-based approaches as in-person sessions – including IFS, EMDR, and somatic techniques – adapted for online sessions, so you can do this work safely from home.
How long does trauma therapy take?
Every person’s timeline is different. We move at a pace that feels manageable for you, focusing first on building safety and stability before working more deeply with what happened.
Do you work with PTSD and complex trauma?
Yes. I work with single-incident trauma, complex and developmental trauma, and PTSD, drawing on my clinical training in traumatology and body-based approaches like EMDR and Somatic Experiencing.
Is online trauma therapy as effective as in-person?
Research supports online delivery of trauma-focused approaches, including IFS and EMDR, as an effective option – and for many clients, being in a familiar, safe space at home supports the work even further.
